Pegg checks her plants for aphids, an insect that is attracted to cannabis plants. The aphids puncture the leaves of the cannabis plant to consume proteins. The aphids then excrete “honey dew”, a sweet sap that attracts ants and promotes “sooty fungus” which will eventually kill the leaves.

Steve Zeno walking through one of his hemp fields in Aroostook County, Maine. Steve worked with potato farmers in Northern Maine to grow nearly 60 acres of hemp which will then be turned into a variety of products from CBD oil to animal bedding. Farmers typically alternate between potatoes and grain every two years, growing the grain in order to replenish the soil but only breaking even in profit. Steve sees an opportunity to work with these farmers to grow industrial hemp during the years when they would usually be growing grain.

Steve would regularly make the 5 1/2 hour drive up to Aroostook County to oversee the grow, often sleeping in his car.
